Joe Agi (SAN) Extends olive branch of Peace

JOE AGI (SAN) HOLDS OUT THE OLIVE BRANCH: SUES FOR PEACE AND COOPERATION. The primary election has come and gone. Winner has emerged and plans for the main by-election are being executed already. The election ended with some in frayed nerves that should be defrayed with our humane behavioural disposition at this juncture. Chief Joe Agi SAN Campaign Organization is not ignorant of the trite that time such as this, it requires little thought to realise that we have to depend on each other at every turn of our lives and endeavour to achieve a particular goal. A goal such as the contest to fly the party's flag and eventually wins the race as in the forthcoming northern Cross River Senatorial by-election. We must try to avoid the bullying, aggressive, scowling and critical attitude in our relationship with supporters of former aspirants. Since variety is the spice of life, none of us has a monopoly of brains or wisdom. We must therefore learn to be tolerant of the views and opinions of...

As for my worthy opponents and their supporters, I urge all to close ranks with me so that we can as a united party, win the forthcoming general elections. The senate is an elephant and as our people say, there will be enough for everyone! My profound gratitude goes ...

PAYING GOOD FOR GOOD. BY HON. GABE UGOR

TO THE MAN, JOE AGI. THE RIGHT TIME TO REPAY GOOD FOR GOOD.  Sometimes back in year 2010, one of the toughest primaries was held to pick the Chairmanship candidate to fly the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Yala Local Government Council.  Yala was polarized with two powerful political factions. On one side, was Hon Gabe Ugor (Yache Ward) as aspirant and Mr. Godwin Odama (Gabu Ward) on the second divide. The magnitude of the preparation for the primary election was so tensed that the entire Yala LGA was frozen below zero degrees. It wouldn't be necessary to mention the names of the political heavyweights supporting these aspirants then but of importance, was simply the fear of uncertainty and anticipated violence that gripped Yala LGA. Indeed, many political pundits described it as the "Clash of the Titans).  However, with the tensed atmosphere then, the primary election venue was shifted to Calabar for fear of violence Yala was known for in the time...

BE LED BY YOUR CONSCIENCE. BY JOE AGI (SAN) SENATE 2020

CR-Northern District: Joe AGi SAN hereby appeals to your conscience.  Recent announcement by Inec on the date for the conduct of the senatorial election has inspired progressives across the senatorial district to run for office. It’s incredibly exciting, but also requires a well thought out plan. Launching a campaign is a huge decision and the Joe Agi SAN campaign organization is prepared to ensure our campaign has a strong start indeed a strong foundation. Recall that upon the death of our “ beloveth late most distinguished Senator Rose Oko” (may her soul Rest In Peace) we had indicated interest to inspire an endearing and enduring perspective to legislation while pursuing the agenda of attracting development to our district. We had embarked upon consultations and consciously created an awareness about the promises of assured development that Joe Agi SAN can attract to our district. We examined the prospect and indicated the possibility of utilizing such realistic capability...

JOE AGI (SAN) FOR SENATE 2020

Cross River State Northern Senatorial District: Joe Agi SAN shall be accountable to the Constituent. The upper chamber of Legislation , in which each state has three representatives regardless of population size, with 109 senators in total is influential chamber. Senators serve four-year terms and their mandate is often as a consequence of the political influence of the constituents. Through the electoral process, they seek the political supports and votes of their constituents to represent them in the Red Chambers.  The constituent is the “Voters” in a legislative district. We are not unmindful of the role of the coalition (An alliance of political groups pursuing a common goal). Their choice always counts. As fundamental as their roles in making the election of the Senator successful, most of our Senators relegate them to the background when elected to serve. Others treat them with ignominy. This is not fair. The presumed right of the people to instruct their elected repres...

THE MARRIED COUPLE AND THE LAW OF SETTLEMENT OF PROPERTY IN NIGERIA :A CRITIQUE.

THE MARRIED COUPLE AND THE LAW OF SETTLEMENT OF PROPERTY IN NIGERIA: A CRITIQUE DR. BRIGHT E. ONIHA* 1.0 Introduction Recently, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice Munta Abimbola delivered a landmark decision that rekindled the debate over the traditionally volatile issue of settlement of prenuptial and post nuptial property in an ailing or “deceased” marriage in Nigeria. After divorce, the parties to a failed marriage tend to go separate ways. However, several issues that are ancillary to the dissolution or “interment” of the marriage are also thrown up for consideration and determination. They include custody and maintenance of the children and wife of the marriage, as well as the sharing of the property that were acquired during the subsistence of the marriage. In the case of the latter, women are often disadvantaged. The inequality in the sharing of such property is attributable to several factors ranging from economic, social, cultural, religious, political factors. I...

IGBO DAUGHTERS (WOMEN) NOW TO INHERIT WILLS. UKEJE V. UKEJE

In Igbo Customary Law, succession and inheritance are taken for granted as enuring by the principle of primogeniture. In other words, the eldest male child (Okpala or Diokpa) of the intestate has a sole claim to the estate of the deceased. Hence, female children do not inherit their deceased parents. Against this backdrop, a suit arose at a Lagos State High Court. It was instituted by one of the daughters of the deceased Lazarus Ogbonnaya Ukeje, who challenged the grant of Letters of Administration to her mother (and widow of the deceased) and her brother to her exclusion. She maintained that being a child of the deceased, the grant was discriminatory having offended section 42 (2) of the 1999 Constitution. Appealing against the decision of the Lagos High Court that found in favour of the Claimant, the Defendants/Appellants cited Igbo Customary Law as the basis for which she was disinherited. The Court of Appeal affirmed the ruling of the lower court. Further dissatisfied, the Appellan...

MONEY TRANSFER FRAUD!!!!!

COLLUSION AMONG CBN,COMMERCIAL BANKS,WESTERN UNION,MONEYGRAM,ETC TO KILL THE NAIRA INSTALMENTALLY 🤔!!! By Chief Anthony Ani,FCA,Former Minister Of Finance. "A MATTER OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY DEMANDING OUR DEAR PRESIDENT BUHARI'S URGENT ACTION! "RE: $BILLION DIASPORA REMITTANCES: WHERE ARE THE  DOLLARS?" The above question was posed in an article in The PUNCH newspaper edition of September 9, 2019, by columnist Henry Boyo. I have been a daily reader of The PUNCH for the past 10 years and I have not yet, read any comments from anyone on this question. There is a need to discuss this issue, as it appears that there is massive foreign exchange laundering going on in our banks. As the architect of the Diaspora remittances in 1996, I am naturally concerned at the abuses disclosed by Boyo. When in 1995, we at the Ministry of Finance reviewed the country’s sources of foreign revenues, we found out that nothing was coming in from Nigerians in the Diaspora, whereas India and Jam...

DOES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ALLOW PREGNANCY BEFORE MARRIAGE?

BY REV Fr Ojo Joe. Let me quickly say the simple answer to the above question is no. But then, how come we see, many times wedding celebration of couples who are pregnant or have even given birth in the Catholic church? The answer to this question forms the basis of this write up. Since this article is meant to answer non catholics who want to know about catholics and catholics who want to know more about their Faith, I have taken for myself the authority of Jesus as written in the scripture only, that we all may come to know that, such wedding is not abomination to God, but a healing for damage of sin already committed. The Catholic church preaches strongly against sex before marriage. In fact, it is wrong for a man and woman to live together if they are not married. So if sex is a sin before marriage, then there should not be pregnancy in the first place. But then if the couple, for any reason we know not, had sex and it leads to pregnancy, The Church is careful not to give penalty t...
