JOE AGI (SAN) FOR SENATE 2020

Cross River State Northern Senatorial District: Joe Agi SAN shall be accountable to the Constituent.

The upper chamber of Legislation , in which each state has three representatives regardless of population size, with 109 senators in total is influential chamber. Senators serve four-year terms and their mandate is often as a consequence of the political influence of the constituents. Through the electoral process, they seek the political supports and votes of their constituents to represent them in the Red Chambers.

The constituent is the “Voters” in a legislative district. We are not unmindful of the role of the coalition (An alliance of political groups pursuing a common goal). Their choice always counts. As fundamental as their roles in making the election of the Senator successful, most of our Senators relegate them to the background when elected to serve. Others treat them with ignominy. This is not fair.

The presumed right of the people to instruct their elected representative not only through votes but through constant political discourse seem to be relegated to the background. There’s virtually absence of contributions by the constituent in the Senators’ decisions in the floor of the Senate. He shall allow a functional line for you to reach out to him. He shall have a Special Assistant on Constituent matters to interface with you ( for such moments that pressures of work might seem overwhelming), there shall be platforms for direct impact. Joe Agi is interested in having periodic “town hall meetings” with his constituent; the aim of which is to keep you abreast with the functionality of his contributions in the senate while seeking your contributions on how best to achieve benefits to the district. Joe Agi SAN will continue to explore avenues to carry his constituent along in his legislative agenda.

Joe Agi SAN’s response to issues, as a ‘Senator’ shall underscore the traditional desire to temper his constituents’ views with his own knowledge and opinions. SAN believes that the direction of his votes on critical national matters shall always require the input of his constituent. He shall continue to consult with key intellectually engaging stakeholders in his district, so that fundamental issues of interests to the constituent shall be addressed.

For Joe Agi, it is  better to keep senators accountable.  Why not? The electorates gave you the mandate and you must necessarily report to them. In his view, a senator must always consult his constituent and ensure that opinions agreed are heeded. He will be a senator that will place matters of critical consequences before stakeholders for evaluation and consensus, before presenting same on the floor of the Senate. Every bill will of local and national interests. Let it not be the business of Joe Agi, let it always be the business of the people. For Joe Agi, legislation is about the people and efforts must be geared to consulting with the people. The constituent has a right to influence the decision of the ‘Senator’ as to what direction he should go with his votes. Joe Agi feels all hands must be on deck to ensure that representation is collective. We must not continue to undermine stakeholders who should have a sense of sacrifice and belongings in the affairs of legislation. After all it is about them. Politics, they say, is always local all things being equal.

Joe AgI shall continue to appeal directly to the people through a series of articles and meetings explaining his ratification or non-ratification of certain issues before the senate.  He asserts that, as a senator, he will be interested in engaging, educating and intellectually inspiring key stakeholders in his constituent on the political implications of any action he will take on the senate floor, periodically. It is regrettable that our current crop of Senators only briefs their constituents during elections. Most of the people don’t hear about their Senators and their efforts in the senate. Joe Agi SAN will be different.

Joe Agi believes that, if you are elected by the constituent, you must periodically interact with your district to make them understand and appreciate the very essence of representation. Your support for Joe Agi means a vote for contributing towards the growth of your district. Joe Agi shall not be an Abuja Senator only, he will be a Senator that will always be with you; to know what you want and go back to fight for your good. He shall be accessible and accountable to you. Join the winning team, don’t be afraid, don’t be left out. Victory points to Joe Agi, the voters’ choice 2020.

He is the idea whose time has come. Vote for accountability, vote for responsibility, vote for true representation. Joe Agi SAN is the answer. His knowledge of governance issues key to our growth.

IGBO DAUGHTERS (WOMEN) NOW TO INHERIT WILLS. UKEJE V. UKEJE

In Igbo Customary Law, succession and inheritance are taken for granted as enuring by the principle of primogeniture. In other words, the eldest male child (Okpala or Diokpa) of the intestate has a sole claim to the estate of the deceased. Hence, female children do not inherit their deceased parents. Against this backdrop, a suit arose at a Lagos State High Court. It was instituted by one of the daughters of the deceased Lazarus Ogbonnaya Ukeje, who challenged the grant of Letters of Administration to her mother (and widow of the deceased) and her brother to her exclusion. She maintained that being a child of the deceased, the grant was discriminatory having offended section 42 (2) of the 1999 Constitution. Appealing against the decision of the Lagos High Court that found in favour of the Claimant, the Defendants/Appellants cited Igbo Customary Law as the basis for which she was disinherited. The Court of Appeal affirmed the ruling of the lower court. Further dissatisfied, the Appellan...

How to achieve unbelievable heights.

It is indeed common knowledge that everyone wants to be successful, live their dreams and mentain the growth but what remains the challenge is that they do not know what path to follow and are also faced with the challenge  of wrong choices resulting from bad decisions. It is also a reality that we have desires and wants but not everyone gets what they aspire. An example is the Hollywood where a chunk of people visit every day to live and fulfill their dreams and offcourse not everyone can live in Hollywood because Hollywood won't contain all that yearn to go there, In order to succeed we have to therefore learn what others do differently that enabled them have that good life, the enabled them be viewed different, that enabled them succeed. Mentors have the power: In order to transform your life, it is important that you have a mentor, even more than one if you aspirations in some other field(s). There is nothing you can achieve in life without following the footsteps of others,...
